lyrics

Lone wolf inside a lion’s den
A soldier molded by environment
I’m not about to sacrifice a limb
I stand firm just an like iron man
I don’t bend
I don’t ride the fence
or switch sides for an audience
So before you act as brave as Spartacus
know exactly who you're waging war against
I was born where you're ready for cold storms
or a price on your life that you won’t afford
‘cause the rent can literally cost an arm
and a leg and a head when the swords are drawn
Every breath you inhale, you get overcharged
So you better excel(exhale) when you're on the job
All depends on how well you can hold the fort
while defending yourself from a Trojan Horse
full of savages and saboteurs
and some more who match up in that category
Think you know, but really don’t know half the story
Didn’t pass a torch or hold a ladder for me
You set fires to your bridges
I kept climbing out the trenches
And instead of doubting my resilience
I met the top of Mt. Olympus
Heightened senses is the price of brilliance
You feel it whenever you defy the limits
My fate was heavy on the scale already
it was evident carrying a crown would tip it
Do or die’s the only option given
So move aside if you ain’t about the mission
I move in silence while you scrutinize
and between you and I, this is not a competition
You’re witnessing the chase of the century
and my enemies can’t get a inch from me
So just stay your place
‘cause you never had legs in this race
like a snake to a centipede
You're just staking your claim in a conversation
Mine is gracing the pages of history
From a vagrant to greatest of gladiators
Don’t ever underrate my abilities...

Ain’t no sittin still when you're in the field
or exposing your Achilles heel
Slow motion just gon’ get me killed
They destroy the culture while the city builds
And I got problems top to bottom
And every column got a reason
for why I constantly gotta fight for peace in this violent Colosseum

Ancient universities reside in me
Earned a Master’s of Managing Properties
From a Phoenix that burned at a high degree
to having seekers of knowledge acknowledge me
My kingdom’s en route on their Odyssey
The thinkers admire my sovereignty
while the bringers of shiny and polished things hide the kinks that I find in their briberies
I’ve defended my throne from titans
strong as giants
and prone to violence
throwing up stones and tridents
with territorial goals of triumph
Somehow we evolved into rivals
even though we were all from Chicago
But when given no hope and no guidance
all you hear is the notes of the sirens
From the Gold Coast to Stony Island
even when the Great Lake is frozen solid
I promise they still got the power to wash you and leave you unsure(on shore) like Poseidon
Started from the floor at the bottom
now we’re here in tumultuous timing
from the slave ships to the places that resemble Gomorrah and Sodom
During a moment of silence that I took to cope with the trauma
I heard a voice in my mind that was more like the sound of an old negro spiritual sung thru the cotton
[it said]
“If you ever get lost in the wilderness
you will remember the call and responses
This is all just a product of many residual memories haunting your conscience...
You’ve been here before
through different physical forms and all the demises
And this isn’t a war
This is an internal storm you endured(indoor) in confinement
This is all an assignment
And having to sharpen your mind
along with the heart to survive
to build up a stronger design is a part of the process...”

Ain’t no sittin still when you're in the field
or exposing your Achilles heel
Slow motion just gon’ get me killed
They destroy the culture while the city builds
And I got problems top to bottom
And every column got a reason
for why I constantly gotta fight for peace in this violent Colosseum
